Rooted in Gospel evangelism and service, the LASL Nairobi Mission Trip offers a meaningful blend of proclamation and presence. The team’s goal is to share the hope of Christ through clear gospel messages—inviting people to consider God’s love, repentance, faith, and the promise of new life in Jesus. Just as importantly, the mission emphasizes relationship-building, so conversations feel natural and respectful rather than hurried. Alongside evangelism, support is provided for a youth basketball camp, creating a space where kids and teens can experience joy, encouragement, and healthy community through sports.
Throughout the trip, participants can expect experiences that move beyond scheduled activities and into genuine connection. Prayer walks: walking through neighborhoods, listening to local awareness, and praying for families, schools, leaders, and everyday needs. Team members may also spend time intentionally with those who are vulnerable—sitting down to build genuine connections, asking about daily struggles, and offering prayer for specific concerns. Whether through conversations, shared meals, or simple acts of care, these moments help the Gospel take on a visible, lived form. The basketball camp then becomes a practical bridge for young people, where athletes receive coaching, learn teamwork, and hear encouragement that points back to Christ’s character—strength, patience, forgiveness, and perseverance.
The impact of such a trip can be measured in both immediate and long-term ways. In the short term, seeds of faith are planted as children and adults hear the good news for the first time or are reminded of it through repeated conversations and prayerful relationships. The camp nurtures engagement and trust, and it often creates openness for deeper spiritual discussion—especially as mentors model kindness and integrity. Over time, the rippling effects can include continued discipleship, ongoing support, and strengthened partnerships with local believers who carry the work forward. Ultimately, the trip reflects the heart of the Gospel: proclaiming Jesus and caring for people with compassion, so that both word and witness point toward hope.
